DESCRIPTION:Deciphering Bias – Awareness\, Assessment\, Action\n			 \n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				**Please note\, this event is only for NAAAP DC members. If you wish to become a member\, please sign up on our website.** \nDECIPHERING BIAS is our first in a series of NAAAP DC diversity\, equity\, and inclusion certificate workshops for 2022. The certificates are awarded for each workshop completed and are a part of our broader focus of leadership development\, especially for those looking to pursue future NAAAP DC leadership roles. \nIn the Decipher Bias workshop on Wednesday\, March 30 at 8 P.M. ET\, we will: \n\nDefine the types of bias\nHow to identify them\nAcknowledge the impact that unchecked bias has\nEquip individuals with the awareness and tools to take action in creating more inclusive spaces and relationships\n\nWe recognize that diversity and inclusion are multifaceted issues and that we need to tackle these subjects holistically. One of the ways we are doing so is through our Unconscious Bias Education. We all have unconscious biases — that is human nature. \nUnconscious bias education enables individuals to begin recognizing\, acknowledging\, and therefore minimizing any potential blind spots they might have but wasn’t aware of previously. This awareness also allows us to take action in creating more inclusive spaces and relationships. \nThe workshop will be facilitated by our NAAAP DC Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion committee and led by professional D.E.I. practitioners Dorris Lin and Chris Clayton.
