Implicit Bias Training

June 29, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Unconscious and implicit bias exists in ALL of us. It helps us make quick decisions by identifying patterns that pop up in the day to day life. Inherent bias is not, in and of itself, a bad thing. But when we allow those biases to negatively (or positively) influence other people’s opinions without the proper information or context we run into trouble. People should base their perceptions of their coworkers on concrete words, actions, and accolades. However, unconscious biases cause us to make assumptions based on race, age, gender, and any other aspects of our appearance.

In this DEI training, we will review the meaning of DEI, unpack the impacts of implicit bias, and define actions that we can all take to become better success partners in our daily spaces (both personal or professional). Attendees will leave with a better understanding of our systems of thinking, where and how implicit bias manifests, and how to take action to work against stereotypes and microaggressions.

Please join the National Association of Asian American Professionals, D.C. Chapter on Tuesday, June 29th at 7:30 p.m. EDT for an hour and a half of DEI & Implicit Training. This is FREE and open to ALL!
